The power grid has different coal consumption during different periods of flat, peak and valley. The energy consumption of the cooling system with cool storage is higher than that of without cool storage in terms of electricity consumption, while lower in terms of coal consumption from the grid point of view, indicating that the cool storage is an energy saving process for the cooling system. Based on the different coal consumptions per kWh electricity generation during flat, peak, and valley periods, develops an equivalent model of coefficient of performance (COP) for the comparison of the cooling systems with and without cool storage. An example calculation for the cooling system with cool storage shows that the normal COP is 4.25, while the equivalent COP is 4.91, which reflects the energy saving effect of cool storage.
